When I was approached about shooting a dog-wedding...a shotgun-dog-wedding...I jumped at the chance. I mean, does it get any better than adorable Labs, in love, on the soundfront? (Under an arbor, no less?) Actually...it did. A few days later, the Mrs. Labs gave birth to 9 adorable puppies. (I don't tend to get baby-fever...but puppy-fever is in full swing. Aw-da-be-beeees)
Enjoy! More to come when the babes have opened their eyes!
Being asked to shoot a friend's wedding is one of the biggest honors in the world. Walking onto the beach to share in Paul + Tina's big day, you could feel the love shared among the two families and many friends for this amazing couple.
Thank you for having us, you two. Congratulations!
I love working with local clients. But I especially love working with locals who have sense relocated elsewhere. When they return, they see the beauty in our little island towns in a different way.
John + Linsday, together with their show-stealer of a fur-baby, Chief, were nothing short of amazing. We cannot wait to shoot their big day in the fall!!
Typically, I start a wedding-post with a quote on love, happiness, marriage, etc. But for this particular wedding, the quotes just don't do their love story justice.
Cullen and Frieda's love for each other shows in the way they look at one another, and the way they look at their daughter. Their eyes tell it all. It was an honor and a pleasure to share in a little part of their love story.
Thank you for having us, Mr. & Mrs. Malarney!
It is such an honor to be chosen to shoot families year after year on their beach-vacations.
This is the 3rd session I've had with the Wixteds and it has been my absolute pleasure to watch their family grow.
Thank you guys for choosing Busy B each year! <3

While I adore working with clients from around the world, there is something extra special about local clients.
Meet Maddie...rising senior and Manteo High School Marching Band Drum Major. (Be still my band-heart...totally took me back to my own marching band days!)

I was fortunate enough to join the Mormak family two evenings in a row. They chose me to shoot their wedding....well, lets back up. Their kids chose me to shoot the nuptials as a surprise for the happy couple. They wanted to be sure their parents were present for all the reception fun, so we opted to come back the following day to do family portraits! (Such a fantastic idea!)
Meet the Mormaks...and their family!
I count my blessings every day that we live in such a beautiful area. The week the Papaik family came to town, I counted my blessings twice.
I'm so thankful our little island is a hotspot for vacationers- which encourages our far-away-friends/family to visit us! I was super-excited to be able to work with this sweet family for beach portraits while they were in town. There is something truly special, more than an honor, when your friends hire you to shoot their family. (Wait...well, you know what i mean.)
Also, shoutout to my super-stud husband...he joins me on many shoots. He can be seen carrying the camera bag, making kiddos smile, and holding sunglasses/cellphones/shoes of our clients. Thanks for all you do, Boo! :)
"Can we bring props?!"
Yes, PLEASE!! I can't begin to tell you how excited it makes me when clients are as excited as I am about their session...and bring props to play with on the beach. Props open the door to new poses, candid moments, etc. that we don't necessarily have without.
Mom & Dad of this particular family were celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss...so their children made a 'noodle arch' for them to walk through in the sand! Those smiles? Organically made!

Cottages on the Outer Banks are filled with families from all over the country this time of year. Many families take advantage of their vacation time, and double into a family reunion of sorts- bringing in children and grandchildren from other locations to spend time together at the beach.
We met the Campbell family a few weeks ago and left their shoot feeling like part of their family. (Especially when they brought out their sweet four-legged friend! Give us all the puppy snuggles!)

I won't preface this post with much- because...there isn't much cuter than a one year old in a tutu eating cake on her birthday. What could I possibly say to warm your heart even more?
Well...this little one year old happens to be the babe of my oldest, dearest friend. The friend who I shared my first horsey-memories with. The friend who shared her "GraMa" with me. The friend who got all my glittery, bedazzled, hand-me-down clothes...and wore them just as proud as I did. My wish for every little girl in this world is to have a friendship like ours, because no matter how much time passes, we always pick up where we left off. <3

One of our kiddos performs 3 nights/week in (proud mom gush) the longest running outdoor drama in the country, The Lost Colony. Being a part of this production takes quite a commitment from the entire cast...every night...outside...donned in heavy, wool costumes...in the heat- in the rain- in the bugs- the entire cast commits to these conditions in order to share this dream with the audience. #runsthruAug22getyourticketsnow
All employees deserve some time to let down their hair together, right? As a reward to our hard-working kiddos...we somehow managed to make it to the carnival together to celebrate these kids and their hard work. And some of their favorite adult actors happened to join us too.

Engagement sessions with our future wedding clients are so exciting!! In most cases, we walk away from our session- not feeling like we've been at work at all, moreso that we have spent an hour laughing with friends.
Check out Paul & Tina in downtown Manteo!

Do we travel for weddings?!! WE LOVE destination weddings!
While the Outer Banks is a hotspot for weddings, this beach girl LOVES to hit the road for a destination wedding. When Rob & Meaghan inquired about BBP shooting their wedding in Richmond, VA, we were thrilled!! (And that was BEFORE we found out the reception was at a brewery!)
Congrats, Rob + Meaghan! {click & scroll for clarity}
It seems like we just packed up Christmas and now it is almost June!
Charles Bailey joined the world shortly before the Christmas holiday. (Which gave us a wonderful opportunity to photograph him in front of the incredibly decorated tree for his newborn portraits!) Now this little cutie is coming up on his first half-year celebration!

This June, our own little one will be walking across the elementary stage to take her diploma and move onward to MIDDLE school.
(I have to take a moment to breathe when I read that!)
The day of elementary school orientation, we got together with her BFF and took some fun photos to celebrate their entrance into kindergarten. So naturally, we had to document their exit in a BIG way.
Congratulations, girls!! I promise to do it up even bigger for middle school graduation...ahh!!
